Gradall Forklift Parts - All through the time when World War II created a shortage of workers, the legendary Gradall excavator was founded in the 1940s as the brainchild of two brothers Koop and Ray Ferwerda. The brothers faced the problems of a depleted labor force because of the war. As partners in their Cleveland, Sacramento construction business referred to as Ferwerda-Werba-Ferwerda they lacked the available workers so as to carry out the delicate job of finishing and grading on their highway projects. The Ferwerda brothers opted to make an equipment which would save their business by making the slope grading job less manual, easier and more efficient.
The initial excavator prototype consisted of a device with two industrial beams on a rotating platform fixed to a used truck. There was a telescopic cylinder that was used to move the beams backward and forward. This allowed the fixed blade at the far end of the beams to push or pull the dirt. Before long enhancing the very first design, the brothers made a triangular boom to add more strength. Additionally, they added a tilt cylinder which let the boom turn 45 degrees in both directions. A cylinder was placed at the rear of the boom, powering a long push rod to enable the equipment to be outfitted with either a blade or a bucket attachment.
Gradall introduced in 1992, with the introduction of the new XL Series hydraulics, the most ground-breaking adjustment in their equipment ever since their invention. This new system of top-of-the-line hydraulics allowed the Gradall excavator to provide high productivity and comparable power to the more traditional excavators. The XL Series ended the first Gradall equipment power drawn from low pressure hydraulics and gear pumps. These traditional systems successfully handled finishing work and grading but had a hard time competing for high productivity tasks.
Gradall's new XL Series excavators showed more ability to dig and lift materials. With this series, the models were produced along with a piston pump, high-pressure system of hydraulics which showed noticeable improvement in boom and bucket breakout forces. The XL Series hydraulics system was even developed with a load-sensing capability. Conventional excavators utilize an operator to pick a working-mode; where the Gradall system could automatically adjust the hydraulic power intended for the job at hand. This makes the operator's general job easier and also conserves fuel at the same time.
Once the new XL Series hydraulics reached the market, Gradall was thrust into the very competitive industrial machine market that are meant to deal with pavement removal, excavating, demolition as well as several industrial tasks. The introduction of the new telescoping boom helped to further enhance the excavator's marketability. The telescoping boom gives the excavator the ability to better position attachments and to work in low overhead areas.
